My family and I had a great meal here while staying in SF. Lots and lots of family style dishes to choose from, and the waitress was very helpful with offering recommendations based on what we said we like! We ordered sooo much food. 2 appetizers and 3 main dishes was more than enough for our 4 person table.

Hello there! Happy March! I was celebrating the New Year at the San Francisco Festival on Sunday and I decided to stop by and make an order for a combination chow mein and sweet 'n sour spareribs (I whether I should either go here or Kam Lok below right next door!). The server/waitress whose name is Fa or Fae if I'm not mistaken was really nice and she said it would take 15 minutes for everything to be ready (She's an awesome employee!)! Guess what, it got done sooner than that! My dad was going to leave his work just before I decided to call him not to pick me up because I wanted to wait so I could order and get food before I left! After I got my food I called him to pick me up and the nice thing is the restaurant was on the way where he was going to pick me up (He left me there for the festival too) right at the famous Chinatown gate! He picked me up right on time and we headed home where we pleasantly surprised my mom with your dishes as well as half a goose from Yummy BBQ and Yummy Bakery (Both named Yummy LOL!). My mom was amazed by the food and said your chow mein was not only delicious, but unlike any she has had in 34 years which was when she was still pregnant with me (No joke and I'm 33!)! We also enjoyed the sweet and sour (It's nice you provide the option of either spare ribs or boneless pork) and said it is comparable with New Fortune's Peking Spareribs which are also amazing! New Fortune Restaurant closes early on Sundays and thus, wasn't an option for me that day! Amazing food, exceptional service, as well as a welcoming, cozy, and comfortable place to dine-in or wait for your order! Tables and decor are both classic and in good-taste (Not just the food tastes great!) for a Chinese Restaurant! Everything looked clean, neat, and organized! I'm with Tiena L. in that I find it a mystery why it hasn't caught 5 stars on Yelp! Just like her, I will gladly contribute to hopefully help change that! Thank you, have a lovely Day and I'm definitely coming back some day!

I ate here with a friend during the Lunar New Year Festival. The garlic noodles, and lamb skewers were really great! The cucumber salad was also good. They were really busy and it took a while for us to get service, but that wasn't really that bad given all the traffic they had that busy day. It really did feel like an authentic Chinese restaurant.

My new favorite lunch spot in Chinatown is Hunan House. The lunch specials are large portions and the food is delicious. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup and the Kung Pao Chicken. The soup was incredible and very warming on a chilly day. The Kung Pao Chicken was wonderful as well with tender pieces of chicken fresh zucchini onions and peanuts. The spice level was perfect. I will be back soon.

Classic Chinatown restaurant. It is an old feeling establishment with dated decor. Upstairs, there's karaoke. The menu is mainly family style dishes or hot pot. There's only one page for noodles and rice dishes on the menu for single diners. I had the spicy wonton with chili oil $10 and a seafood pan fried noodle $15. The spicy wontons is low on spice heat scale but good spicy. My crispy Hong Kong style noodles had good wok flavor with huge pieces of fish, shrimps and squid. The only drawback is they drowned it in sauce making it not crispy anymore. Rookie mistake. Service was excellent as I was the only downstairs customer at 9:30pm. Well done staff at Hunan House.

I'm so glad I found Hunan's House lunch specials. For $9.50 plus tax you get a huge entrée with rice, soup, hot milk tea or iced lemon tea. You can not beat that price around here for the amount of food and taste! I have ate here twice so far, the first time I ordered the cod with tofu and today I got the prawns with lobster sauce. Excellent taste, fresh food, the soup is different both times and lemon tea is great with real lemon slices in them! I deducted a star because their online ordering does NOT work. Do not order online from them. I made that mistake the first time and when I went to pick up after 40 mins of placing my order online, they told me they never received my order. They tell me to just call. So call I did! Yesterday I called during lunch hour and their phone straight up hung up on me! I walked over and to my surprise, they were closed! There were people standing around outside wondering why they were closed. On their website, it states open everyday from 11-10 (S-Thu) and 11-11 (F-Sat). There was no note or anything on the door. Today, I called again during lunch hours and the phone disconnected immediately. I walked over and they were open and the servers were muttering amongst themselves "why isn't the phone working!". So I just ordered in person and waited. If they can update their website and take off online orders and fix their phones, that would greatly improve on their customer service. Otherwise, the cheap and abundant of lunch specials make up for the their lack in other departments. I will update with new photos of lunch specials as i get them!

Absolutely unbeatable week day lunch specials. You get a delicious entree with rice, lemon tea, AND soup... for less than $10! I hope Hunan House stays open for a long time!! They accept credit card :) Parking of course is a hassle so definitely uber or take public transit if you're visiting.

I'm always looking for good eats. Today, I decided to try Hunan House located in the heart of SF Chinatown on Washington and Grant. I wasn't expecting much from a tourist eatery. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and offering. The lunch specials were decently priced, and they offered a large selection to choose from. I ordered the cod with tofu. The flavor was good, but it was a little too salty for me. I would come back to try the other dishes.

Excellent family style meal and conscious of dietary restrictions. Service was fairly fast and we liked mostly all of the dishes we got. Sesame chicken is the best meat dish we tried and the green beans are a classic done well here. The beef pancake is unique it has thick pieces of meat was expecting minced meat but great sauce. Highly reccomend when in Chinatown!!

One of the best ways to celebrate Lunar New Year! Yo! This place is on point! My girl and I enjoyed so much great food! The fried rice with the dried scallop was the star! So much flavor! Just the thought of it...got me salivating. The lamb skewers were crispy and spicy! The beef soup was seasoned just right, not too salty! And yes, that pork belly has got to be top 5 in the Bay! Open challenge! Lovely intimate place!
